Being the first puzzletale game I’ve played, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I enjoyed the puzzle solving aspect because it provided a unique game play experience compared to other kinds of board games. My biggest issue with the game was that it required a computer or phone to play. (Although it is possible to use a phone, it was pretty difficult especially since we had more than one player.) While the idea seemed neat at first and tied into the story, it wasn’t very practical and it felt like we spent the majority of the game on the phone instead of interacting with the pieces of the game itself. It took us out of the experience a bit and got frustrating at times. I wish the board game had utilized a different method of entering the answers to the puzzles that kept us more immersed in the board game itself.
